  • 3 top cut hot dog buns
  • 3 all beef hot dogs
  • Mustard
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 2 tablespoons sweet relish
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 3 slices American cheese
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 cup fresh diced tomatoes


  • Start by lightly toasting the hot dog buns.
  • Fry the all beef hot dogs, brushing some mustard on them while they cook.
  • To make the animal sauce, combine 1/2 cup mayo, 2 tablespoons sweet relish, 1/4 cup ketchup, 1 tablespoons vinegar, 1 tablespoon sugar, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of butter with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, once it starts foaming add in 1 cup of diced onions. Sauté for about 5 minutes until it reaches that caramelized color.
  • Separate the onions into 3 sections, then place a slice of American cheese on each until it is melted.
  • Add some Animal sauce to the bottom of the bun, followed by some diced tomatoes and shredded lettuce.
  • Place the mustard-fried hot dogs on next.
  • Top it off with the cheesy onion mixture.
