Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Granny Smith apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Caramel optional

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine 2 cups of buttermilk with 2 eggs.
  • In another bowl, combine 2 cups of all purpose flour with 2 tablespoons of cinnamon and nutmeg and a pinch of salt.
  • Using an apple cutter and two spatulas to prevent the apple from cutting all the way through, slice a granny smith apple or whatever apple of your choice.
  • Use a fork or another apple coring tool to remove the inside core trying to keep the apple from separating.
  • Submerge the apple in the buttermilk mixture making sure to fully coat it.
  • Bring it to the seasoned flour and coat it thoroughly.
  • Repeat this for a double dredge.
  • Fry the apple at 350°F for 5 minutes.
  • In the meantime, combine 1 cup of sugar with 2 tablespoons of cinnamon.
  • When the apple is done frying, toss it in the bowl of cinnamon sugar and thoroughly coat it.
  • These are great as is, but even better if you dip them in caramel!
